This centurion had so much faith that he knew all Jesus had to do was say the word and his servant would be healed/ He knew that Jesus' power was without limits and boundaries; that Jesus did not even have to be in the same room to see the problem to heal it.
I feel that we, today, would have a similar power if we had the faith of this centurion. That we could say "God, this person is in need of healing. Heal him now because You have the power." I feel we don't see healing in today's times as we do in history because people don't have that faith in God's power that produces healing. Jesus healed with command and authority over an illness; no doubt!!! That's the faith we need if we are to perform miracles for God's kingdom!
Luke 7:1-10 KJV
ReplyDeleteNow when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum. And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, that he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard these things, he marveled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
It is my understanding a Roman Centurion was a person that was high in rank; a commander or officer. This bible story is showing us an officer who cares for his servant; this person was probably more like a slave as we know it. This officer humbled himself and asked Jesus for the healing of his servant.
He had faith!! He believed in Jesus and in God our Father. He believed that Jesus could heal his servant. He believed he could make him healthy again.
Our Faith! My faith! Your faith! Do you have no faith, some faith, a little faith or a lot of faith??? I believe the more we exercise our faith the more our faith grows……………
